Data Retention Policy

At Dear Henrietta, we believe your data belongs to you. We retain personal information only for as long as it’s genuinely needed to provide our services or meet legal obligations.

1. Active Accounts

We keep your data for as long as your Dear Henrietta account remains active. This includes your journal entries, preferences, therapy history, and other information necessary to support your ongoing use of the platform.

2. Account Deletion

When you delete your account, we permanently erase your personal data within 30 days.

A minimal record — such as your email address and the date of deletion — may be securely stored to:

  • confirm your deletion request,

  • prevent re-registration fraud or impersonation, and

  • comply with audit requirements.

This record is never used for marketing or profiling.

3. Legal and Compliance Obligations

Certain records may be kept longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes, including:

  • preventing fraud or misuse of the platform,

  • meeting financial or tax compliance obligations, or

  • resolving ongoing disputes.

These retained records are archived securely, isolated from active systems, and never used for analytics or advertising.

4. Aggregate and Anonymized Data

We may retain non-identifiable, aggregated information (such as app usage statistics) indefinitely for product improvement and research. This data cannot be traced back to any individual user.
